Adam Hamilton is a fifth-generation Kansan whose family put down roots in Dickinson County 147 years ago. Adam is running for Senate because he believes we need to stop the chaos and corruption in Washington by actually listening to people and working together to get things done for Kansas families. Adam grew up in Prairie Village, married his high school sweetheart, LaVon, the week after graduation, and has been by her side for 43 years. Together they have two daughters and a 12-year-old granddaughter.
In 1990, at 25 years old, Adam and LaVon started the Church of the Resurrection with their two young daughters and a handful of neighbors. What began with four people in a borrowed space has grown into the largest United Methodist church in the country, with about 24,000 members worshipping each week across nine locations in the Kansas City area.
Together they have built a community that has committed hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours and raised tens of millions of dollars to support charities all across the state. Thirty-six years later, Adam still serves there as founding pastor, leading a congregation that mirrors Kansas itself- a mix of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
Adam is an author whose books on faith, leadership, and bridge-building have shaped conversations far beyond his congregation. And he’s helped train thousands of other pastors and leaders over the years. In his ministry, his writings, and now his campaign for the U.S. Senate, Adam believes we are all called upon to close the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be.
Adam’s running because Washington isn’t listening to us, and they’re making life harder for Kansans. Tariffs, foreign wars, and erratic leadership have made the basic necessities like food, medicine, and gas more expensive. While traveling around the state, Adam has heard from farmers, ranchers, and small-business owners who are struggling with rising costs for fuel and other inputs, and soaring health care costs.
Adam believes that Washington shouldn’t be the world’s bully or a place of gridlock, but a functional government that listens to the people it represents. He isn’t a career politician; he’s a Kansan who believes we are better when we work together.
